Ferriday leads all-parish team

Ferriday High leads the 2009 All-Parish Football Team as the Trojans landed 12 of the 23 players selected to the team.

Ferriday finished 8-4 on the season, falling to District 2-2A foe Farmerville in the second round of the playoffs.

Farmerville defeated Ferriday in the final regular season game of the year.

Ferriday senior Rodney Lawson is at quarterback.

Lawson completed 110 of 192 passes for 1,696 yards with 14 interceptions and 14 touchdowns.

Lawson was also honorable mention all-district

Running backs are Ferriday senior Bobby Madison and Vidalia senior Quan Riley.

Riley rushed for 565 yards.

Madison rushed for 1,479 yards on 219 carries with 11 TDs.

Madison was also first team offense and second team defense all-district.

The offensive line consists of Ferriday junior Gerald Webster, Trojan junior Demetrius Conner, Ferriday junior Jacari Williams, Vidalia seniors Ben Parnham and John Brixey.

Webster was first team all-district, Conner was second team,. while Jacari Williams was honorable mention.

Parnham was first team all-district, while Brixey was second team.

Wide receivers are Ferriday junior Alfred Brown and Vidalia senior Gary Stewart.

Brown and Stewart were both first team all-district selections.

Brown caught 40 passes for 713 yards and four touchdowns.

Stewart caught 18 passes for 540 yards and also had four interceptions on defense.

The defensive line consists of Ferriday senior Julius White, Trojan junior Carl Ray Thompson, Vidalia senior Van Thompson and Vidalia senior Joe Williams.

Williams, Van Thompson and Julius White were first team all-district, while Carl Ray Thompson was second team.

White totaled 64 tackles with one fumble and an interception return for a TD.

He also had three sacks and broke up seven passes.

Carl Ray Thompson had 73 tackles, five sacks and an interception.

Williams led Vidalia with 55 tackles and 37 assists.

Linebackers are Ferriday junior Marques Lewis, Trojan junior ZuRaine Thompson, Vidalia senior Mason Ozburn and Huntington senior Kevin Brown.

Brown and Lewis were first team all-district selections.

Oaburn was honorable mention all-district, while Thompson was second team all-district.

Ozburn finished with 37 tackles and 19 assists.

Lewis led the Trojans with 169 tackles and forced three fumbles, recovered a fumble, had two interceptions, four sacks and borke up three passes.

Thompson had 71 tackles, two interceptions and broke up eight passes.

Brown led Huntington with 101 tackles, with two sacks and three interceptions.

Defensive backs are Ferriday junior Devante Scott, Vidalia junior Caleb Vines, Vidalia sophomore Jamale Davis, Trojan senior Nieco Amado and Huntington senior Jess Dossett.

Dossett and Scott were first team all-district.

Vines and Davis were second team all-district

Amado was second team all-district.

Scott had 79 tackles and five interceptions, along with 12 pass break-ups. He also totaled 2,287 all-purpose yards.

Amado had 53 tackles and four interceptions. and broke up 10 passes.

Dossett totaled 91 tackles with two sacks and three interceptions.

Vines had several tackles and also passed for 916 yards on the offensive side.
