Huntington competes at Prairie View

Huntington's boys and girls teams competed in the Prairie View Doubleheader this past weekend in Bastrop.

Huntington's boys defeated Tallulah Academy 44-37 Saturday.

Huntington led 15-9 after one period and 23-16 at halftime.

Both teams scored 21 points in the second half.

"We're beginning to play a little better and getting some contribution from several different people," said Huntington boys coach David Boydstun.

Tyler Pere´ led Huntington with 26 points.

"Tyler has to score some points for us to be in ball games," Boydstun said. "His outside shot is not falling right now, but he's doing a good job of creating things and making things happen around the basket."

The Lady Hounds fell to Tallulah 48-27 Saturday.

Huntington trailed 18-11 after one period and 27-16 at halftime.

Donna Tarver led the Lady Hounds with nine points.

Huntington's girls fell to Prairie View, 68-50.

The Lady Spartans led 20-9 after one period and 44-22 at halftime.

Donna Tarver led Huntington with 21 points, while Julia Corbett added 10.

Huntington's boys fell to Riverfield, 49-43.

Riverfield led 15-8 after one period and 24-17 at halftime.

Pere´ led Huntington with 23 points.

Huntington's boys and girls seek their first district wins at home against WCCA Friday.
