Monterey boys down Forest Monterey High's boys won their first District 3B games in two years as the Wolves defeated Forest, 56-47 in Forest Tuesday in the district opener for both teams.
Monterey trailed 12-8 after one period before taking a 25-22 halftime lead. The Wolves led 39-33 after three quarter.
Billy Melcalf led the Wolves with 16 points, while Beau Shively added 12 and Austin Lipsey 11.
Monterey's girls fell to Forest, 34-28.
Forest led 12-5 after one period before the Lady Wolves tied the game at 12-12 at halftime. The Lady Wolves took a 20-19 lead after three periods, but Forest outscored Monterey 15-8 in the final period.
Madison Simpson led the Lady Wolves with 12 points.
Monterey split a pair of games from Sicily Island for the second time this season as the Lady Wolves swept the Lady Tigers with a win Friday in Monterey.
Monterey led 11-9 after one period before Monterey outscored the Lady Tigers 16-4 in the second quarter.
Monterey outscored Sicily Island 17-5 in the third period and 8-6 in the final quarter.
Eleven Lady Wolves contributed to the scoring, led by Madison Simpson with 20 points and Kendall Lipsey with eight.
Monterey's boys fell to Sicily Island, 63-51.
Metcalf led the Wolves with 16 points, while Jon Lipsey added 13 and Shively eight. |
