Four fatalities in Concordia in 2007; 90 throughout Troop E
While Louisiana State Police worked four fatal crashes resulting in four deaths in Concordia in 2007, the number of highway deaths throughout Troop E last year totaled 90 from 79 fatal crashes.
The past year was one of the deadliest on record on Troop E highways. Troop E includes Concordia, Avoyelles, Rapides, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Sabine, Vernon, Winn and Natchitoches.
According to Troop E statistics, of the four fatal crashes in Concordia in 2007, one involved a pedestrian crossing the highway, one a motorcycle and two involved vehicles in which neither individual was wearing a seatbelt.
Additionally, Troop E investigated 1,592 injury crashes and 1,857 property damage cases.
Traffic citations issued throughout the Troop E region included 12,494 for speeding, 10,786 for seatbelt violations, 648 for child restraint violations, 929 insurance violations and other moving violations totaling 4,476.
Stolen vehicles recovered were 18, while checkpoints performed included five for sobriety, 17 for insurance and three for seatbelt.
Criminal arrests totaled 1,155 for DWI, 31 for violent crime, 128 for narcotics, 27 for hit and run, 16 for vehicular/negligent injuring, 12 for vehicular/negligent homicide, 733 other criminal violations and 48 fugitives.
Troop E patrols 8,067 square miles, 9,314 highway miles.
