Huntington boys clinch second Huntington's boys basketball team clinched second place in District 6A East with a 66-50 win at Tallulah Tuesday.
"We played real well offensively and the kids are really seeing each other well," said Hound head coach David Boydstun.
Huntington will face either Glenbrook or Claiborne in the first round of the District 6A Tournament to be held at Riverdale Academy in Coushatta.
"We went from 2-9 early to 11-11 now," Boydstun said. "We have been on a nice roll. We're getting better every day and have a good group of kids. There was a lot of turmoil early with football going deep into the playoffs and people undecided about playing. But now we are getting a good team effort."
Tyler Pere´ scored 15 points and Jody Cottongin added 14 points for the Hounds
Josh Guillory chipped in 13 points, while Josh Lee added 10.
Huntington's Lady Hounds fell to Tallulah 53-33 and will finish third in district.
Huntington girls will meet Riverdale Monday in the first round.
Phyllicia Woods had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Hounds.
Huntington hosts Amite School Center Thursday in its final regular season game.
The South State Tournament will be held Feb. 11-16 at Central Hinds Academy in Raymond, Ms. |
