IN TODAY'S CONCORDIA SENTINEL -- WEDNESDAY, FEB. 13, 2008 INITIAL DETAILS IN TRIPLE HOMICIDE TOLD IN COURT
Conner Wood's call to police to report that an intruder had shot his parents and that he had shot the intruder were among several pieces of evidence introduced today (Wednesday) during a trial of motions in Seventh Judicial District Court in Vidalia. The 16-year-old, 15 at the time of the murders, faces three counts of first degree murder.
GENE ALLEN-GLEN MCGLOTHIN REMATCH IN MAYOR'S RACE
Ferriday Mayor Gene Allen and former Mayor Glen Glothin will face each other in another run-off on March 8th in the general election. Allen unseated McGlothin four years ago, while McGlothin was 31 votes shy of winning outright Saturday in the seven-candidate field.
SCHOOL BOARD NET ASSETS $29.8 MILLION IN 2007
The Concordia Parish School Board's finances are sound, Business Manager Tom O'Neal told the Board during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night. O'Neal said the board's assets over liabilities totaled $29.8 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007.
HEARING SLATED ON FERRIDAY APARTMENT COMPLEX PROPOSAL
The Ferriday Town Council will hold a public hearing at its March meeting to discuss a proposal by Macon Ridge Community Development to construct a 15-unit apartment complex near Ohio and Second Streets. The complex for the elderly, if approved, would be located next to Ferriday Place I and Ferriday Place II, which were also projects of Macon Ridge. |
