Obama, Huckabee lead in Concordia; five elected to DPEC

In party elections in Concordia, Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mike Huckabee led the field in the Presidential primary.

Obama garnered 53 percent of the Democratic vote, while Hillary Clinton received 31 percent.

Vote tallies included Obama, 1,555; Clinton, 914; John Edwards, 261; Joe Biden, 83; William "Bill" Richardson, 72; Christopher Dodd, 28; and Dennis J. Kucinich, 18.

On the Republican side, Huckabee with 50 percent of the vote outpolled John McCain, who garnered 40 percent.

The tally was Huckabee, 451; McCain, 368; Mitt Romney, 34; Ron Paul, 28; Rudolph W. Giuliani, 11; Fred Thompson, 7; Alan Keyes, 5; Jerry Curry, 4; and Daniel Gilbert, 3. Duncan Hunter didn't receive a single vote.

In the Democratic Party Executive Committee race, with the top five vote getters elected, Justin Conner led with 1,187 (20%); followed by Paul Scott, 1,052 (18%); Shirley Johnson, 968 (17%); Glenda Price Lewis, 907 (16%); Tanya Tassin, 887 (15%); and Ferris Durham, 829 (14%).

In the Democratic Party Executive Committee race in District 1A, Dorothy Johnson won with 587 votes (82%), followed by Wanda Ann Baker Smith, 132 (18%).

In the DPECe Distirct 4A race, Charles Stutson won with 261 (58%), over Elijah "Stepper" Banks, 187 (42%).
