O'Neal said the board's assets over liabilities totaled $29.8 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007, up from $25.6 million the previous fiscal year.
The figures were released during a review of the 2006-07 financial audit.
Also at Tuesday's meeting, the Board lifted its hiring freeze and hired Dr. Brenda Moore as Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance. The board also voted to ratify the contract of new superintendent Loretta Blankenstein.
Concerning finances, O'Neal said the governmental fund totaled $21.1 million for the fiscal year ending June 2007, showing a $2.8 million growth over the previous year.
"This is an excellent report," he said, adding that all employees received pay increases during the past year.
"The system is very solvent," he said.
In another report, O'Neal said that the school system has a veteran education staff with 109 teachers with 25-plus years of experience and 14 with less than one year.
In other business, the board approved the payment of invoices for January 2008 of $3,736,889.
