Lady Vikings get two wins Vidalia High's softball team scored nine runs in the sixth inning to defeat LaSalle 14-8 in Olla Monday.
"Our bats finally came alive," said Vidalia head coach Jeanne Hall.
The nine runs came about as Eryn Secrest, Chelsie McElwee, Kassi Randall, Mary Sanders and Mary Katherine Golden singled, Tori Lemoine doubled and Kaitlyn Wilson delivered a sacrifice fly.
Wilson had a home run over the fence earlier. McElwee had a triple, while Golden and Alaina Burns both doubled.
Chelsea Warren had three stolen bases in the contest.
"We needed this for a confidence boost," Hall said.
Brittany Whittington got the win, allowing five hits, striking out two and walking eight.
The Lady Vikings made it back-to-back wins on Tuesday by defeating Franklin Parish 8-4 in Winnsboro.
Whittingotn allowed six hits, struck out three and walked four in the win.
"We played much better defense," Hall said.
McElwee led the Lady Vikings at the plate wiht two hits.
Golden tripled, while Warren, Randall and Sanders each singled.
Vidalia will compete in the Alexandria Senior High Tournament Friday and Saturday.
The Lady Vikings will face Minden, St. Louis, DeQuincey and LaSalle in varsity games and Rosepine, Winnfield and Ruston in junior varsity. |
