Ferriday advances past Donaldsonville

Ferriday High advanced to the Class 2A quarterfinals with a 72-54 win at Donaldsonville on Feb. 27.

The Trojans jumped ahead of the Tigers 14-2 in the first quarter before Donaldsonville cut that lead to 29-23 at halftime.

Ferriday regained the momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 26-14 to lead 55-37 going into the final quarter.

Matthew Smith led the Trojans with 16 points, while Montrell Tennessee added 14. Alrion McKeel scored 12 points, while Levier Pryor added 11.

Ferriday faces Lakeside of Sibley Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Cajundome in Lafayette in a Class 2A semifinal contest.

A win will put the Trojans in the state championship game on Saturday.
