Vidalia High's Lady Vikings went 3-1 in the Alexandria Senior High Tournament this past weekend to win their pool.

"I was very pleased at the way the varsity team played," said Lady Viking coach Jeanne Hall. "We seem to be playing

more like a team now than earlier in the year. We are communicating more on the field. I have more players stepping up and taking control on the field. We hit the ball hard and consistantly this weekend. Our baserunning was great. We have a lot of speed on this team and use it when at all possible."

Vidalia defeated St. Louis 5-3 in their first game as Mary Katherine Golden had a home run and single, while Alaina Burns had two hits. Chelsie McElwee, Chelsea Warren, Kassi Randall, Katlyn Wilson and Mary Sanders had one hit each.

Vidalia fell to LaSalle 5-4 in its second game.

Warren and Randall had two hits each to lead the Lady Vikings.

Burns, Golden and Tori Lemoine had one hit each.

The Lady Vikings rebounded with an 8-2 win over Minden.

Warren led the Lady Vikings with three hits, while McElwee had two base hits. Wilson, Sanders, Burns, Golden, Lemoine, Julie White and Brittany Whittington each added a hit.

Vidalia defeated Calvary Baptist 8-1. sa McElwee, Warren and Golden had two hits each. Randall and Wilson each singled, while Dara Fauver had an RBI.

Vidalia's JV team lost to Rosepine 9-5, fell to Winnfield 8-1 and lost to Ruston 12-1.

"We were put in defensive situations this weekend that we had been working on during practice," Hall said. "It was a great feeling to see the confidence in their eyes when that situation occured in one of the games this weekend. I just hope we keep moving forward. We are going to continue to practice hard every chance we get."

Vidalia hosts Buckeye Thursday.

"We saw them play in Alexandria a couple of weekends ago and they are a strong team with great pitching," Hall said.
