Funeral services for Leon Butler Wyles, Sr., 83, of Ferriday were held Tuesday, March 11, 2008, 11 a.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with Rev. Hershel Clanton and Donald Money.

Burial followed at Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert.

Mr. Wyles was born October 3, 1924, in Extension to Alvie and Amanda H. Wyles. He passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Ferriday.

Mr. Wyles had been a resident of Ferriday for 57 years and worked in construction for T. L. James for 25 years. He later owned and operated convenient stores in Ferriday and Clayton. He loved to run his beagles, which he also bred.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Genevieve J. Wyles, his son, Glen Allen Wyles, his daughter, Delores Wyles, and two brothers, B. D. Wyles and Herman Lee Wyles, Sr.

Survivors include sons, Leon B. Wyles Jr., and wife, Loretta, of Vidalia, David C. Wyles and wife, Aline, of Denham Springs; daughters, Janice McManus and husband, Jerry, of Mandeville, Gwen Ensminger and husband, Morgan, of McNeil, AR, Mae Blaney and husband, Kenny, of Clayton, and Ann Ostrom and husband, Randy, of Baton Rouge; a sister, Mary Belle Gardner of Freeport, TX; 22 grandchildren, Debra F. Blackwell, Jerry Lynn "Jay" McManus, Lyn Ensminger, Shannon Anderson, Robin Hemba, Jeffrey Ensminger, Nicki Vines, Honey Douglas, Hester Rainey, Jessica Blanchard, Trey Wyles, Bubba Wyles, Stephen Wyles, Rachel Sullivan, Jessica Hornsby, Virgina "Jenny" Wyles, Olivia Wyles, Glen Donald Wyles, Lee Allen Wyles, Greg Ostrom, Brennan Ostrom, and Michael Ostrom.

Pallbearers were Trey Wyles, Bubba Wyles, Stephen Wyles, Jay McManus, Lyn Ensminger, Jeff Ensminger, Lee Allen Wyles, and Gregory Ostrom.
