Essie Mae Lewis Funeral services for Essie Mae Lewis, 81, of Ferriday will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008, 11 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church in Clayton with Rev. Dave Mayes officiating.
Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lewis was born February 8, 1927, in Waterproof, the daughter of Adam and Katie Humphrey Holmes. She passed away March 16, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Chester and Eddie L. Carter; and one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Carter.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Lewis Jr.; sons, Leslie Carter and wife, Clara, LaVon Carter and Anthony Holmes, all of Ferriday; daughters, Pinkey M. Thomas and husband, Chris, of Ferriday, Betty Jean Carter of Ferriday, Vera Cowan and husband, James, of Atlanta, GA, Annice Jackson and husband, Gary, of Ruston; sisters, Dorothy Forman of Vidalia and Emma Lee Holmes of Ferriday; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. |
