Stewart, Hawkins all-district

Vidalia senior Brandon Hawkins and Viking sophomore Gary Stewart were
named to the District 3-3A first team.Viking sophomore Quan Riley was
named to the All-Defensive Team.Honorable mentions named to the team
from Vidalia were Doug Logan, Quartrell Thomas and Jeremy Randall.
Joseph Lavalais of Marksville was named district MVP, while Chris Dupuy
of Marksville and Birthrim Jackson was named Coach of the Year.
For the girls, Vidalia High's Tyshica Rodgers was named to the
All-Defensive team.
Gabrielle Wagoner and Rachael Wagoner were named honorable mentions.
Marksville's Jennifer Harper was named Coach of the Year, while Rosalyn
Wilmer of Marksville was named Coach of theYear.

Ferriday High's baseball team dropped a pair of slugfests last week,
falling to Carroll High 12-11 on Friday before dropping a game to
Pointe Coupee on Saturday, 16-12.
Nicco Armado. Demarco Lewis and Josh Conners had home runs for the
Trojans against Carroll.
Malcolm Griggs got the start for the Trojans, while Starlin Hawkins
finished with seven strikeouts.
Ferriday opens its district schedule Friday at Jonesboro-Hodge.
"We need to find some defense," said Trojan coach George Barnes. "We're
scoring runs, but giving up too many."
