Monterey trio named All-Academic Monterey High School placed three students on the 2008 Louisiana High
School Athletic Association Academic All-State Basketball Composite
Team.
Seniors Jared Ensminger, Garrett Lipsey and Billy Metcalf were named to
the composite team, which is made up of all classes, and the Class B
Academice Team.
All three basketball players maintained a 4.0 grade point average while
also contributing on the court.
Seniors Beau Shively, Jonathon Lipsey and Madison Simpson were named as
honorable mentions on the Class B All-state team.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-State team, the nominee
must have been selected as an all-district player for the 2007-08
basketball season in his/her respective sport, must be a senior student
with a three-year accumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better;
based on a 4.0 scale.
The composition in each class and on the composite team consists of
three selections per position (2 guards, 1 center, 2 forwards); a total
of at least 15 players per squad; ties were not broken.
Members to the respective teams were chosen using this formula when
ample nominations were available - in some classifications, there were
not enough nominees to complete the full complement of squad
selections. |
