Viking baseball nips Bolton

Cameron Boyette scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Vikings defeated Bolton 5-4 to improve to 3-1 in District 3-3A and 9-5 overall.

Boyette led the Viking offense with three singles, while Jake DeWeese doubled.

Bolton led 3-1 after two innings before the Vikings tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Mason Ozburn picked up the win for Vidalia while Grant Millet received the loss for Bolton.

Ozburn pitched all nine innings for the Vikings and collected 14 strikeouts.

"Mason got stronger as the game went on," Hoffpauir said. "He did a very good job for us."

Boyette batted 3-for-5 with three singles for Vidalia in the win.

Trey Brasher had three sacrifice flies in the contest.

Vidalia hosts Bunkie Thursday.
