Monterey track running strong

Monterey High's girls track team has placed second and third fourth in its past three track meets.

At the Rayville Track Meet on April 3, the Lady Wolves finished third.

Taylor Morace placed first in the javelin with a throw of 94 feet. Ariel Hector was third at 74 feet.

Logan Dale was second in the long jump at 29 feet.

Kristen Lipsey won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:55.

Kaley Baker placed first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:17 with Brooke Baker placing second at 14:27.

Monterey was fourth in the Delhi Track Meet.

Morace placed second in the javelin with a throw of 88 feet.

Hector was sixth in the discus with a throw of 80 feet.

Mollie Simpson placed second in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 3 1/4 inches and fourth in the 300-hurdles at 54.4 seconds.

Dale placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 80 feet, 8 inches.

Kristin Russell placed fourth in the 800-run at 2:56.2 and Kristen Lipsey was fifth at 2:58.3.

Brooke Baker was third in the 1600-run at 6:28, while Rachel Pecanty was fourth at 6:32.

Kaley Baker won the 3200-run with a time of 13:47, while Brooke Baker was second at 14:14.

At the Oak Hill track meet, Monterey was second.

Morace was second in the javelin with a toss of 94 feet, 7 inches.

Dale placed third in the long jump at 13 feet, 9 1/2 inches, and third in the triple jump at 30 1/2 feet.

Simpson was second in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 11 inches and third in the 300-hurdles at 56.4.

Pecanty placed third in the 1600-run with a time of 6:28.2.

Ellen Bairnsfather was third in the 400-dash at 1:09.2. Kaley Baker placed third in the 3200-run at 13:25.

The 400-relay team of Pecanty, Shelby Millican, Bairnsfather and Dale was second at 4:47.

For the boys, Chance Cooper was second in the 300-hurdles at 46.95.

Beau Shively was second in the 200-dash at 24 seconds. Ethan Cannon was second in the 3200-run at 12:08.

Tyler Trant placed third in the discus with a throw of 103 feet, 1 inches.

Monterey will compete at district Wednesday at Delhi.
