Sheriff's office investigating apparent murder/suicide

The Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the apparent murder/suicide involving a Ferriday area couple.

The sheriff's office said the incidentt was reported at 11:32 Tuesday morning.

The bodies of John Wesley Mize, 39, and his wife, Patsy Lynn Mize, 45, were identified shortly after their discovery at their 156 Biglane Road residence. John Mize's body was located inside the home and his wife's was outside the residence. Coroner Dr. Sarah Lee pronounced them dead at the scene.

Patsy Mize suffered a knife-wound to the neck and John Mize died from a gunshot to the head.

The couple's landlord placed the 911 call notifying the Sheriff's Office of the deaths.

Working on the case are CPSO Chief Investigator Bobby Sheppard with Investigators Sheila McFarland and Jack Fletcher, Sgts. Denis Mulvihill and Mike Clark, and Deputy Dale Cowan.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
