ONE-FOOT DROP IN MISSISSIPPI EXPECTED

The Mississippi River is expected to fall a foot during the next few days after reaching a crest on Tuesday of 57 feet at Vidalia. While a relief to authorities, work continues to shore up levees and in controlling sand boils up and down the river.

THREE PLEAD NOT GUILTY IN FERRIDAY POLICE CASE

Three of six men indicted by the parish Grand Jury March 17th concerning wrongdoing within the Ferriday Police Department entered not guilty pleas in Seventh Judicial District Court today (Wednesday) in Vidalia. Two of the three entering pleas included a current Ferriday police officer and a former officer.

NEWELLTON MAN KILLED IN CLAYTON ACCIDENT

A Newellton man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at the Hwy. 15/U.S. 65 intersection at Clayton Tuesday afternoon.

CONNOR WOOD, 16, TO BE SENTENCED NEXT WEEK

Connor Wood, the Ferriday teen convicted last Wednesday on three counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of his parents, Geraldine (Jeri) and John Wood, and friend, Matthew Whittington, will be sentenced next week, April 30th.

BEWARE: DEER CROSSING HIGHWAY

Motorists on the Vidalia-Ferriday highway came upon quite a sight on Saturday afternoon as approximately 200 deer crossed Hwy. 84 (Ferriday-Vidalia Hwy.) near the Ferriday water plant at Ridgecrest.
