Huntington girls second at district

Huntington School's girls placed second in at the MPSA 6A District meet in Ruston April 16.

The top four finishers in each event advanced to the South State Track Meet being held in Silliman with the field events today (Wednesday) and running events on Saturday.

The Lady Hounds finished with 55 points, second to Wilkinson County Christian Academy at 104. Glenbrook was third at 32.5, Tensas fourth at 17, Tallulah fifth at 16.5 and Claiborne sixth at 15.

Abi Brown paced the Lady Hounds with a first place in the 200-meter hurdles at 16.8 and the 400-dash at 1:04.65. She was second in the 300-hurdles with a time of 49.53. 

Phyllicia Woods won the 100-dash in 13.49 and was second in the 200-dash at 28.42.

Amberlee Collard was second in the 100-dash at 13.59 and third in the 200-dash at 28.43. She was also fourth in the shot put with a toss of 27 feet.

Donna Tarver was fourth in the discus with a throw of 72 feet, 2 inches and fifth in the 3200-run at 16.25.

Katie Gray finished second in the 3200-run with a time of 14:41 and fourth in the 1600-run at 6:55.

Briana Olds was sixth in the 1600-run with a 7:41.

Julie Moak finished fifth in the 200-hurdles at 18.8. 

Natalie Tarver finished fourth in the 800-run with a time of 2:49.69.

The 1600-relay team of Brown, Moak, Natalie Tarver, and Collard finished fifth with a time of 4:46.9.  

The 800-relay team of Moak, Collard, Woods and Brown finished thirdwith a time of 1:53.49.

The 400-relay team of Moak, Collard, Woods and Brown finished second with a time 53.96.

For the boys, Drew Loomis won the mile run at 5:15 and was second in the two-mile run.

The 400-relay and 800-relay team of Tyler Pere´, Joey Roberts, Jody Cottongin and Andreas Swanson finished second in both events.

Swanson finished third in the long jump and fourth in the 100-dash and 200-dash.

Roger Merrill was fourth in the 800-run.

Chris Carroll placed fourth in the shotput and discus.
