Monterey's boys and girls track teams placed second at the District 3-B Track Meet held April 16.

The top four finishers move on to the Regionals in Ruston today (Wednesday).

"We had five qualify for state last year and several alternates and I think we can get that again," said Monterey coach Ashley Avery.

Beau Shively, the lone senior on the squad, won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.8, finished third in the 200-dash at 23.9 and was fourth in the long jump at 17 feet, 2.5 inches.

Elliot Britt was won the 1600-run with a time of 5:53.3 and captured the 3200-run with a time of 12:49.3.

Ethan Cannon was second in the 3200-run with a time of 12:49.4 and third in the 110-hurdles at 21.3. He also placed fourth in the triple jump at 29 feet, 7.5 inches.

John McNeil placed second in the 110-hurdles at 19.6 and was second in the 800-run at 2:32.1.

Chance Cooper placed second in the 300-hurdles at 45.7 and was third in the 100-dash at 12.4.

James Davis placed second in the javelin with a throw of 120 feet, 8 inches, and was fourth in the shot put at 30 feet, 10.5 inches.

Tyler Trant was third in the discus with a toss of 103 feet, 3 inches and third in the shot put at 33 feet, 8 inches.

Jeffrey Spann was third in the triple jump at 31 feet, 4 inches and fourth in the 300-hurdles at 54.2.

Drew Lipsey finished third in the 1600-run at 6:33.7.

Brett Wright was third in the 800-run at 2:48.8.

Jorge Gonzalez was fourth in the javelin with a toss of 110 feet, 7 inches.

The 400-relay team of Wright, Aaron Charpentier, Drew Brown and Josh Usie placed third.

The 1600-relay team of Shively, Gonzalez, Cooper and Jacob Lancaster placed third at 4:17.3.

In girls results, Taylor Morace won the javelin with a throw of 93 feet, 3 inches.

Kaley Baker won the 3200-run with a time of 13:27.3.

Ariel Hector won the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 11.5 inches and was second in the javelin at 71 feet, 8 inches and third in the discus with a throw of 68 feet, 3 inches.

Rachel Pecanty won the 1600-run with a time of 6:27.2 and was fourth in the discus with a toss of 59 feet, 8.5 inches.

Brooke Baker was second in the 3200-run at 13:59.3.

Logan Dale placed second in the long jump at 14 feet, 2.25 inches, second in the triple jump at 30 feet and fourth in the 100-dash at 14.5.

Kristin Russell placed second in the 800-run at 2:47.4.

Ellen Bairnsfather was second in the 400-dash at 1:08.3.

Kristin Lipsey was second in the high jump at 4 feet, second in the 1600-run at 6:41.7 and third in the 800-run at 3:03.3.

Mollie Simpson was third in the long jump at 14 feet, 1 inch, third in the triple jump at 27 feet, 3.5 inches, third in the 100-dash at 13.9 and fourth in the 300-hurdles at 55.5.

Shelby Millican was third in the 100-hurdles at 25.1 and fourth in the high jump. Danielle Palmer placed fourth in the 100-hurdles at 27.4.

The 1600-relay team of Pecanty, Millican, Bairnsfather and Dale finished second at 4:51.5.
