DISTRICT ATTORNEY WON'T SEEK RE-ELECTION

Dist. Atty. John Johnson said today (Wednesday) he will not seek re-election to another term of office. "I have mixed emotions about retiring," Johnson said. "But I feel like the time is right."

THREE LIFE SENTENCES FOR 16-YEAR-OLD CONNOR WOOD

Sixteen-year-old Connor Wood was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences today (Wednesday) for the March 14, 2007, murders of his parents and 16-year-old friend.

LIFT STATION UPGRADES PLANNED

Bids will be opened May 22 for improvements to the Concordia Park Lift Station and force main and the Belle Grove Lift Station. Bryant Hammett, whose firm is the parish's engineer, said these wastewater collection improvements should resolve the sewer programs in those areas.
