Florida Street gym work on tap in Ferriday The Ferriday Town Council Recreation Committee met with D.C. Lamarr Contracting, LLC Monday for a pre-construction conference to renovate the Florida Street gym after a special meeting Monday attended by Dorothy Oliver of Lamarr.
"Three weeks has passed and Mrs. Oliver said no one has contacted her and we are under a time restraint with the $35,000 LGAP grant from the state," said Mayor Gene Allen. "We do not need to run out of time on the money."
At its April meeting, a bid to renovate the gym was let on a 3-2 vote to Lamarr, which doesn't hold the proper commercial contractor's license.
Lamarr submitted the lone bid of $54,500.
D.C. Lamarr Contracting, LLC is listed as a home improvement contractor on the Louisiana State Licensing Board of Contractors and does not have a license to work on commecial buildings, according to the site.
Gloria Lloyd, Robin Charpentier and Johnny Brown voted to award the bid to Lamar, while Jerome Harris and Glenn Henderson voted against it. |
