Funeral services Ruby J. "Ga Ga" Irvin, 91, of Ferriday, who died Monday, May 5, 2008, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Young's Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be at Natchez Cemetery.

She was born August 10, 1916, in Naches, TX. She moved to Ferriday with her family in 1948. She was a loving homemaker and served as secretary/treasurer for H. L. Irvin and Son until 1975.

As a devout Christian, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ferriday being active in the WMU, and served as a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir.

For many years, Mrs. Irvin along with her husband and daughter served with Campers on Mission witnessesing and building mission churches across Louisiana and the United States. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Lewis Irvin, Sr.; daughter, Gayla Irvin; four sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include her son, H. L. Irvin Jr., and wife, Joy; granddaughters, Melynda Ann Irvin of Baton Rouge, Melissa Kay Bolen and husband, Britt, of Pineville, and their mother, Pat Irvin of Ferriday; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Kyle Bolen and Brittney Ann Bolen; several nieces and nephews; special family friend, Jennifer Fries of Baton Rouge; and caregivers, Judy Crews and Meleter Roach.

Pallbearers are Hyram Copeland, Britt Bolen, Joe Irvin, George Ward, Joe Webber and Billy Rucker.

Honorary pallbearers are Bill Colvin, Brant Barnett, Bill Beasley, Warren Enterkin, David Crews, Jack Adams, Ray Routon and Kyler McNeely.
