Lady Hounds third at State meet Huntington's girls finished third in the Class A State Track Meet, finishing with 56 points, behind Veritas with 92 and Wilkinson County Christian Academy with 56.
Senior Amberlee Collard won the 200-dash in a time of 27.27 and was second in the 100-dash at 13.80.
Collard also placed eighth in the shot put at 27 feet, 10 inches.
Abi Brown won the 400-meter dash in 62.04 and was second in the 100-dash at 15.86.
Huntington's 400-relay team of Julie Moak, placed second at 53.04 and was seventh in the 800 at 1:52.85.
Phyllicia Woods was seventh in the 200 at 28.74.
Katie Gray placed eighth in the 3200-run at 14:07.61.
"We only had five girls competing, so to finish third is quite an accomplishment," said Lady Hound coach Penny Moak. "I was proud of the girls, they did a good job."
Huntington's boys placed 10th in the competition. DeSoto School in West Helena, Ar., won State.
The 400-relay team of placed fourth at 1:35.89.
Andreas Swanson was fifth in the 200-dash at 24.20.
Drew Loomis placed sixth in the 1600-run at 5:36.12.
Chris Carroll finished seventh in the shot put at 39.03. |
