Funeral services for Louis Joe Cephus, 56, of Ferriday were held today, Wednesday, May 21, 2008, 10 a.m. at St. James Baptist Church in Ridgecrest with the Rev. Johnnie Brown officiating.

Burial followed at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Cephus was born June 11, 1951, in Ferriday, the son of George Cephus Sr. and Addie Taylor Cephus. He passed away May 16, 2008, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.

He was employed with the State of Louisiana as a highway supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include six children, Shawn M. Cephus of Lafayette, Creighton Stewart, Jola Cephus and Christy Cephus, all of Baton Rouge, Louis Joe Perry of St. Joseph and Tracy Cephus, of Killeen, TX; two brothers, George Cephus Jr. and wife, Rosenda, both of Duncanville, TX, and Junior Johnson and wife, Lettie, of Ferriday; two sisters, Addie C. Wilson and husband, Niles, of Ferriday, and Oneder C. Roy and husband, Harry, of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; two aunts; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
