Graveside services for Billy Derwood Delaney, 77, of Vidalia were held Monday, May 19, 2008, 10 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Casey Young officiating.

Burial followed under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.

Mr. Delaney was born March 30, 1931, in Brookhaven, MS, the son of Edgar and Velma Delaney. He passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Natchez Community Hospital.

He was a resident of Vidalia, a retired machinest with Armstrong Tire. Mr. Delaney proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for two terms. He worked at Armstrong and Fidelity for 38 years while also serving as owner and publisher of the Fayette Chronicle newspaper. Mr. Delaney was an antique car enthusiast, having restored many cars through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Alice Delaney and Janie Delaney Stutzman.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sarah Joan Templeton Delaney; one son, Kevin Wellington Delaney and wife, Janice, of Vidalia; two daughters, Anita Karen Fuselier and husband, Carl, of Sherwood, AR, and Pattye Kathleen Wallace of Vidalia; six grandsons, Jeremy Bruce Wallace, Adam Christopher Delaney and Brian Daniel Delaney, all of Vidalia, Joshua Ryan Wallace and wife, Lindsey, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Eric Gabriel Fuselier and Blake Garrett Fuselier, both of Sherwood; two great-granddaughters, Mallory Kate and Ella Addison Wallace; and one brother, James Delaney and wife, Ruth, of Natchez.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Wallace, Eric Fuselier, Blake Fuselier, Adam Delaney, Brian Delaney and Joshua Wallace.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Mr. Delaney's name to St. Jude Research or to a charity of choice.
