Vidalia players named honorable mention All-State Vidalia High's Trey Barnes, Beau Doughty and Chelsie McElwee were named as honorable mentions on the Class 3A All-State team last week.
Barnes led Vidalia with a .463 batting average with a team-high six home runs.
Doughty batted .324, while collecting 14 assists from the outfield.
McElwee batted .415 with a .662 slugging percentage.
Meanwhile, the District 3-3A team was released recently.
Vidalia players named to the first team were sophomore pitcher Mason Ozburn, senior catcher Beau Doughty, senior first baseman Trey Barnes, senior outfielder Hunter Martin and junior utility player Trey Brasher.
Named to the second team were junior third baseman Jake DeWeese, senior outfielder Cameron Boyette, and junior utility player Seth Thompson.
Honorable mentions from Vidalia were sophomore John Brixey, sophomore Trey Lillie and freshman Caleb Vines.
Ferriday's Nieco Amado, Kendrick Harris and Levier Pryor were named second team All-District 2-2A.
Amado led the Trojans with a .357 batting average while showing a lot of range at shortstop.
Harris, the District 2-2A MVP in football, hit .323, while Pryor batted close to .300 and was steady at third base for the Trojans. |
