Funeral services for Jessal Blanche Houghton, 86, of Clayton will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at Clayton Baptist Church with Bro. John Williams and Bro. Bo Swilley officiating.

Burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery in Clayton.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, June 11, 2008, 6 to 9 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Houghton was born January 5, 1922, in Lake Providence to J. P. and Sarah C. Traxler. She passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, in Natchez.

She was a resident of Clayton for 66 years and a homemaker. She was a member of Clayton Baptist Church, the Clayton Women's Prayer Group and Ridgecrest Love Circle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Fred Houghton; great-grandson, Justin Houghton; her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include two daughters; Joy Houghton White and husband, Doonie, of Roxie, MS, Jan Houghton Armstrong and husband, Bobby, of Ridgecrest; three sons, Jerry Houghton of Ferriday, Joe Houghton of Vidalia and Dix Houghton and wife, Nita, of Vidalia; four granddaughters, Cindy Spearman of Birmingham, AL, Renee Byrne of Senatobia, MS, Marie Landers and Kristi Whitehead, both of Vidalia; 10 grandsons, Eddy Houghton of Vidalia, Stony Houghton of Morgan City, Paul Houghton of Houston, TX, Tim Houghton of Jonesville, Robert Stanley of Vidalia, Jason Stanley of Vidalia, Corey Houghton of Spring, TX, Chad Houghton of Vidalia, Blair Armstrong of Vidalia, Joseph Armstrong of Vidalia; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
