Monterey seniors named to academic team

Monterey High's Billy Metcalf, Jared Ensminger, Jonathon Lipsey, Beau Shively and Madison Simpson were honored for their academic success by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

Metcalf and Ensminger were named to the 2008 Academic All-State Baseball Composite Team, which includes all classes.

Both Monterey seniors posted 4.0 grade point averages.

Metcalf, Ensminger, Shively and Lipsey were all named to the Class B Academic All-State Baseball Team.

Shively posted a 3.8 GPA, while Lipsey also had a 3.8.

Simpson was named to the Class B Academic All-State Softball Team after posting a 3.8 GPA.

The members of the Academic All-State Composite Team will be honored during the playing of the All-Star Baseball game scheduled at Bringhurst Park in Alexandria on Saturday, May 24, 2008.
