IN THIS WEEK'S SENTINEL -- WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2008 • POLICE JURY FILES SUIT AGAINST ROAD CONTRACTOR, ENGINEER
The Concordia Parish Police Jury has filed a lawsuit against the contractor and the engineer responsible for its Phase 1 road improvement program in which 25.2 miles of parish roads were hardsurfaced.
• DA NAMES SIDDALL, BOYD AS ASSISTANTS
Dist. Atty. John Johnson has named Ann Siddall and Lauri Gene Boyd as assistant district attorneys to serve the remainder of his term which ends in December.
• PARISH GETS $1 MILLION HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT
The Concordia Parish Police Jury will receive at least $1 million in Homeland Security funds which can be used to improve parish and city buildings and facilities to make them more secure in dangerous weather.
• VIDALIA 2009 BUDGET ALMOST $20 MILLION
The Vidalia Town Council approved a $19,450,000 budget for fiscal year 2009 which includes an across the board five percent pay raise for employees.
• SEN. RISER WON'T ACCEPT PAY RAISE
State Sen. Neil Riser of Columbia won't accept a pay raise the Legislature approved for state lawmakers.
• SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS PUT PAY RAISE BACK ON AGENDA
Personal matters highlighted the regular meeting of the Concordia Parish School Board Thursday night, while the board also agreed to consider for the second time this year whether to give itself a pay raise. |
