Pier Decoration Contest on tap for Lake St. John event

The Krewe of St. John is sponsoring the 2008 Pier Decorating Contest to be held Saturday, July 5th, on Lake St. John.

Judging will start at 6 p.m.

Raffles will be held throughout the day.

"We encourage all residents to join in the camaraderie and help us celebrate the spirit of the lake by decorating the pier," said Jack Myers, whose pier will serve as contest headquarters.

Prizes will be given in the categories of Patriotic, Non-Patriotic and Overall.

Entry fee is $10 per pier.

Registration starts Friday, July 4, from 5-8 p.m., and Saturday, July 5, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Myers' home, 4501 Hwy. 568, Lake St. John.

Registration will also be accepted at the Spokane Resort from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 4th.

"Let's try to make this the best year ever!" said Myers.
