Funeral services for Edith Marie Carr Cockerham, 72, of Ferriday were held Friday, June 13, 2008, 1 p.m. at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Preston Holder officiating.

Burial followed at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Cockerham was born June 16, 1935, in Natchez, the daughter of Thomas W. and Annie Bell S. Carr. She passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008, in Ferriday.

She was a resident of Ferriday for 56 years, a member of the Lakeshore Baptist Church in Ferriday and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Thomas Oran Cockerham Sr.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas O. Cockerham Jr., Herman Cockerham and Greg Cockerham, all of Ferriday; four daughters, Annie Taylor and husband, Herman, of Denham Springs, Pamela Cockerham of Lake Charles, Tina Gaston and husband, Roger, of Ferriday, and Theresa Eliznik of Dubai; two brothers, Freddie Carr of St. Joseph, and Ronnie Whitehead of Delhi; one sister, Mary Ruth Clark of Jena; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Donnie Chapman, Donnie Butler, Donnie Wesberry, Junebug Cockerham, Ernie Lucas and Jeremy Owens.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Darakshan, Chris Vaughn, Darryl Sikes and the staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
