Funeral services for Amos Jones, Sr., 82, of Ferriday will be held Friday, June 20, 2008, 11 a.m. at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Ferriday with Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.

Burial will follow at National Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones was born April 19, 1926, in Wisner and passed away June 14, 2008, at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy and Mamie Richardson Jones; and one son, Victor Jones.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Fannie Woods Jones; ten daughters, Debbie Jones of Ferriday, Sheryl Wilson and Dorothy Higgs of Dallas, TX, Katherine Stewart and Maggie Panes of New Orleans, Mamie Jones of Chicago, Amma J. Makoni of Aubrey, TX, Fannie Mae Jones of Denton, TX, Maryann Cooper of Monroe, and Betty Henry of Lake Charles; nine sons, Tommie Wilson of Jonesville, Benny R. Jones of Dallas, Amos Jones, Ernest Jones and Russell Jones, all of Ferriday, James Jones of Harrisonburg, John Jones of Natchez, Hebert Jones of Garland, TX, Homa Gaines of Monroe; one sister, Maddie Robertson of Seattle, WA; niece and nephew, Margaret Bass and George Jones; 54 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
