Officials begin terms Tuesday Municipal officials in Ferriday, Vidalia and Clayton will begin four-year terms on Tuesday, July 1.
In Ferriday, ceremonies are planned at 8:30 a.m. at town hall. Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber will administer the oaths to Mayor-elect Glen McGlothin and aldermen Johnnie Brown, Gloria Lloyd, Jerome Harris, Stepper Banks and Sommer Lewis.
In Vidalia, ceremonies are slated at 2 p.m. at the Vidalia Conference & Convention Center. Judge George Murray will administer the oaths.
Starting four-year terms will be Mayor Hyram Copeland, Police Chief-elect Tapper Hendricks and aldermen Ricky Knapp, Maureen Saunders, Vernon Stevens, Tron McCoy and John Betts.
In Clayton, Rydell Turner will take office as mayor as will aldermen Floyd L. Barber, Carl Ray Thompson, Irene Jefferson, Willie Evans and Sandy Clayton. Clarence Skipper is also beginning another term as police chief.
In Natchez, newly-elected mayor Jake Middleton and aldermen will take office.
Sheriff Randy Maxwell and Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber are the only parishwide officials who'll begin new four-year terms on Tuesday. |
