Dixie teams end seasons

Dixie Youth and Dixie Boys all-star teams saw their seasons come to an end over the weekend at district tournaments in north Louisiana.

After a heartbreaking 19-18 loss to Osterland on Saturday in the District 5 Tournament in Monroe Saturday, Vidalia's 9-10 Minor League All-Star team fell to Morehouse 15-5 Sunday to end its all-star run.

Vidalia advanced to the district tournament by going unbeaten in the sub-district tournament in Winnsboro.

Vidalia defeated Winnsboro 15-14 in the championship game as Pate Shirley hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Cole Cangemi was the winning pitcher, relieving Shirley in the third inning.

Vidalia's Major League 11-12 All-Star team was eliminated from the sub-district tournament by South Franklin, 9-3 on July 2.

Garrett Keating had a home run and also had an unassisted double play.

Keating and Brock Sterling pitched in the final game.

The Tri-Parish 14-year-old Dixie Boys all-stars fell to Morehouse 15-5 Sunday in Bastrop before being eliminated by Franklin 18-5 Monday.

Matt Souderes doubled and had two singles for Vidalia against Morehouse. Jamale Davis had a triple and single, while Dee Garrison singled twice.

Devin Barnes and Jon-Michael Cowan doubled and Brett Wright singled.

Against Franklin, Nate Bozeman had two home runs and a single. Tucker Bruce and Barnes doubled, while Corey Williams singled.

The 13-year-old all-stars also played two games, falling to Monroe, 10-0 before losing out to Morehouse 18-8.

Against Monroe, Austin Chauvin, Peyton Young and Lane Strong each singled.

Against Morehouse, NateThomas and Brandon Warshaw had two singles each. Jared Hedrick, Chauvin, Strong, Blake Martin and Young each singled.
