Three candidates officially threw their hats in the ring for District Attorney in the Seventh Judicial District during qualifying last week, including Brad Burget, Andy Magoun and Ronnie McMillin.

All are from Concordia Parish. Burget and McMillin live in Vidalia, Magoun is from Ferriday.

Judge Leo Boothe was unopposed for the Division B judgeship in the Seventh Judicial District, while Judge Kathy Johnson drew opposition in Division A.

Johnson is opposed by attorney John Reeves, a former assistant district attorney. Both are from Jonesville

The Seventh Judicial District includes Catahoula and Concordia parishes.

Boothe, 66, said he appreciated "the confidence that the bar has shown in me in that I've never been opposed. I'm also very gratified that the people I serve apparently still support me. I plan to continue to insure that their confidence in me is justified by handling all matters in a fair and equitable manner."

This will be Boothe's fourth and final term due to age restrictions.
