Funeral services for Jessie Lee "Jackie" Pannell Smith of Houston, TX, formerly of Ferriday, who died Monday, July 28, 2008, were held Monday, August 4, 2008, 10 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 22 Gray St., Houston, TX. Mrs. Smith was a faithful member and she served diligently on the Usher Board #1 for many years.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Dora Stroud Pannell; her husband, Theodeas Smith, Sr.; one sister, Pat Bush; eight brothers; two sisters-in-law; and two aunts.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one son, Theodeas Smith Jr., Houston; two daughters, Yolanda Smith Evans, Houston, and Nicolette S. (Randy) Charleston, Orlando, FL; two granddaughters, Arleita E. (James) Hiner, Houston, Jaimee Charleston, Orlando; one grandson, James Ryan Charleston, Orlando; one great-granddaughter, Ivy Olivia Hiner, Houston; five nieces, Freda P. (Sylvester) Jenkins, Ferriday, Barbara Lee, Vanessa (Peter) Smith, Wanda (Kerry) Gray, all of New Orleans, and Patricia (Jimmy) White of Los Angeles, CA; four nephews, Richard (Philas) Branch, Lompac, CA, Bennie (Pearlita), Leon (Carolyn), and Gerald (Valerie) Pannell, all of New Orleans; one sister-in-law, Thelma W. Pannell, Los Angeles; a host of great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.
