Landrieu cancels Ferriday visit set for Wednesday

U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu has canceled her scheduled visit to Ferriday on Wednesday, August 13, according to her staff.

No reason for the cancellation was given but a staffer said Landrieu will attempt to visit Concordia Parish in September.

The senator was scheduled to hold a one-hour "meet and greet" at the Arcade Theatre Wednesday morning.

The visit was scheduled as part of her "Securing Our Energy Future" tour across Louisiana to discuss her efforts in the Senate to lower gas prices, strengthen the economy and "secure American energy independence."

Landrieu said she is working with a bipartisan group of five Republicans and five Democrats to pass "a comprehensive solution to America's energy crisis." She said her plan would open up to 200 million new acres of the continental shelf to oil production, which could mean billions of dollars for Louisiana.
