PHOTO -- The Old Home Place of Jake & Mary King, grandparents of JoeEd Edwards
Hattie Bethley stands in front of the old home of her grandparents, Jake and Mary King, on Hwy. 900, between Clayton and the Lake St. John road. Joe "JoeEd" Edwards, the Vidalia Shamrock porter believed kidnapped and killed by the Ku Klux Klan in July 1964, lived in this home with the Kings at the time. The Kings have since died. See story "Is skull found in Clayton remains of JoeEd Edwards?" and others on this website. (Photo: Concordia Sentinel/Robert Lee III) |
