Hayles anxious to start season
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
You would probably have a hard time finding a coach more anxious to start a season than Paul Hayles at Adams County Christian School.

Hayles went 0-10 in his first season at his alma mater, but with six returning starters on offense and five on defense has reason to be optimistic.

"I'm always ready to play, that's just the love of the game," said Hayles, who played at ACCS before moving on to Delta State. "We're already doing some things that we couldn't do until the latter part of last year."

ACCS played Copiah Academy and Central Hinds to 0-0 ties in the Copiah Jamboree on August 17. The Rebels open the season at WCCA.

At quarterback for the Rebels is junior Colin Dollar.

"Colin struggled early in the first game of the jamboree, but he did a real good job in the second game," Hayles said.

Running backs are senior Hunter Russ, junior Dillon Johnson and senior Ryan Comer.

Tight end is sophomore Daniel Guedon.

Junior Bryce Murray is the wide receiver.

Offensive linemen are junior Ethan Rymer, junior Landon Givens, senior T.J. Johnson, senior Tony Duplechin and senior Chris Daniels.

On defense, sophmore Casey Beach and Johnson are the defensive ends.

Duplechin and senior Corey Netterville will be at the tackle positions.

Linebackers are Russ, sophomore Brandon Sanders and junior Roderick Watson.

Cornerbacks are Justin Hicks, Zack Day, Murray and Dillon Johnson.

T.J. Johnson will handle the kicking.

Others seeing action are sophomore lineman Rusty Blackwell, sophomore linebacker Zack Day, junior safety Lee Swinney and sophomore Jodecei Barksdale.

"I think our attitudes are a lot better this year," Hayles said. "We have a rugged schedule, but as long as we keep a positive outlook, put our best foot forward and represent ourselves in the proper way, we should have a chance to win.
