Mildred Ann James Ewing Mildred Ann James Ewing ("Millie"), who was a wonderful friend, devoted mother and grandmother, and loving wife passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008.
Millie was born in Natchez on September 26, 1943 to Tom and Mildred James. She grew up in Natchez and graduated from Natchez High in 1961 where she was a "Rebellete." She attended The University of Mississippi and while there, placed in the Maid of Cotton Pageant and was crowned "Miss Wool." She was also a member of Phi Mu Soroity and was awarded Sweetheart of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Millie graduated from Ole Miss in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in Education, and then went on to teach fourth grade for several years.
Millie was extremely proud to be a member of both The Pilgrimage Garden Club and the The Garden Club of America. Fondly known as "Millie Magnolia," she was well known for her wonderful talents as a tour guide for The Pilgrimage Garden Club. Millie truly enjoyed volunteering her time every year to raise money and co-host with her husband, Robert, the annual Children's Easter Egg Hunt, which benefits children in need in the Natchez and surrounding areas. Her classy, sassy southern style will be sorely missed by those who loved her. |
