Funeral services for Rosie Carter, 86, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of New Orleans and Ferriday, were held Saturday, September 6, 2008, 11 a.m. at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Ferriday with Rev. Eugene Williams officiating.

Burial followed at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carter was born December 25, 1921, to Hevery Banks and Little Frazier Banks. She died August 30, 2008, in Jacksonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Carter; a brother, Rev. Leon Banks; three sisters, Mary Anne, Margaret and Priscilla; four daughters, Juanita Carter, Lula Feaster, Irene Hinkston, and Annie Ruth Wilson; one son, Leon Carter.

Survivors include four sons, Henry Lee Carter, Sr., of Jacksonville; Rev. Jesse Banks and Larry Banks of Houston, TX, Robert Barber of Shreveport; three daughters, Fredlena Allen and Ethel Carter of Jacksonville, Dorothy Amacker of Sugarland, TX; three brothers, James Banks and wife, Mary Alice, Hevery Banks and Elijah Banks; three sisters, Leola Rucker and husband, Kenny, of New Orleans, Lottie Knoten of Marrero, and Little Johnson and husband, Junior, of Ferriday; sister-in-law, Dixie Banks of New Orleans; two special friends, Janet Allen of New Orleans and Mary Bell Williams of Jacksonville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
