H. B. 'Sonny' Higdon
H. B. "Sonny" Higdon, 70, of Lewisville, AR, died Thursday, September 4, 2008, at a Texarkana hospital. He was born November 27, 1937, in Shreveport.
Mr. Higdon had a love for his Lord, horses and his dogs. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, employed by Bruce Alford for 15 years and grew up at Sicily Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, H. B. Higdon, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Red Newman; a brother, Jimmy Newman; and sister, Bonnie Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Higdon of Lewisville; sons, Cody Higdon and wife, Cheryl, of Ferriday, Joe Higdon and wife, Brenda, of Jonesville, Creg Higdon and wife, Tana, of Monroe, and Jimmy Allen and wife, Kathy, of Texarkana, AR; daughters, Tia Juana Thompson and husband, Jerry, of Mangham, Tammy Higdon of Archibald, Dawn Bailey and husband, Brad, of Benton, AR, Cynthia Allen Halter and husband, Mike, of Lewisville; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 6, 2008, 10 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Turner and Rev. Shawn Hicks official. Burial followed at Sewell Cemetery under the direction of A. O. Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Pallbearers were his eight grandsons. |
