Funeral services for Martha Hinkston, 98, of Ferriday were held Saturday, September 6, 2008, at St. James Baptist Church in Frogmore with Rev. L. B. Oliver officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hinkston was born December 11, 1909, in Frogmore to Willie and Victoria Washington White. She passed away September 1, 2008, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Sam Hinkston; three sons, Oscar, Franklin and Willie Hinkston; three daughters, Martha Hinkston, Galatha Mays and LuSeal Holly.

Survivors include five sons, Joseph Hinkston and wife, Annette, Noah Hinkston Sr., and Henry William Hinkston, all of Ferriday, Rev. Booker T. Hinkston and wife, Gloria, of Alexandria, Rev. Henry Hinkston and wife, Willa, of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Evang. Ruthie Sanders and husband, Albert, of Jackson, MS, and Bishop Eloise Collins of Oakland; daughter-in-law, Susie B. Hinkston of Alexandria; sons-in-law, Rev. Tom Holly of Long Beach, CA, and Rev. Dave Mayes of Jonesville; two sisters, Dorothy W. Brackens and Anna W. Warren of Ferriday; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
