Huntington hosts CHEF Huntington School was faced with having an open date this week after Tensas Academy opted to play eight-man football, thus leaving the Hounds without an opponent.
Hound head coach Chad Harkins was content with an open date, but when officials with Christian Home Educators Fellowship (CHEF) of Louisiana called from Maurice interested in playing a game, Harkins complied.
"I told them they would have to come here and they agreed," Harkins said.
Huntington fell to Trinity 34-12 last week.
"We've got a couple of kids banged up," Harkins said.
The Hounds are 1-2 on the season, which they were at this point last year before reeling off a number of wins and making the playoffs.
"We're in the same boat as last year, and actually things looked worst at this time last season," Harkins said. "We need to reel off five wins and go into the Glenbrook game with a chance to win the district. I think playing teams like Central Private and Trinity helps us in getting ready for our district schedule." |
