Story Archives: Tensas falls to Macon Central

Tensas falls to Macon Central
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Tensas Academy dropped its first game of the season as the Chiefs fell to Macon Central 56-50 in 8-man football action.

"We just ran out of gas," said Tensas coach Joe Coats. "They had about 20 players and wore us down."

Tensas led by two touchdowns at two different times. Central tied the game at 50-50 in the final period before scoring late.

"We got the ball back with a minute-and-a-half left but had a penalty and busted play," Coats said. "You just about have to score on every possession and we had three turnovers."

Coats said Jim Lentz had a big game for the Chiefs.

Tensas visits Russell Frida before hosting Central on Sept. 19 and Union Christian on Sept. 26.

Russell lost to CCA 33-32 before beating Calhoun 33-6.

"Both games we have played could have gone either way," Coats said. "We just have to take care of the ball."
