Huntington visits Cenla

Huntington School returns to district play Friday as the Hounds visit Cenla Christian.

Huntington defeated Wilkinson County Christian Academy in its only MPSA District 6A contest.

Cenla Christian Academy fell to 1-3 on the MPSA season with a 42-12 loss to Glenbrook Academy of Minden on Friday.Just over a year ago,

Cenla Christian was at its height after an upset of then No. 2-ranked Glenbrook at home.

Three days later, the Lions' coaching staff was fired, and they stumbled the rest of the year.

"They have a big, strong 250-pound fullback who does a good job," said Huntington coach Chad Harkins. "We're looking to play a more crisp game. We put in a little spread offense last week and we've still got some things to add. We have to come out and play hard or we can get beat."

Huntington visits Franklin next week before hosting Riverdale on Oct. 3. The Hounds then have a crucial two-game road trip to Tallulah and Glenbrook.

"We have got to get better," Harkins said. "We want to be able to play Glenbrook for a district championship, but we have to get a lot better if we want to match up with them. We just need to come out focused each week and take care of business."
