New Black River bridge open
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The new Black River Bridge at Jonesville is open to two-lane traffic and the old bridge is closed, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development.

Traffic will remain on these two lanes until the new bridge is fully opened to four lanes later this year after all construction tie-ins are completed.

James Construction Group LLC is the contractor for the bridge project at a cost of $31.2 million. The project involves construction of 2.195 miles of highway along U.S. 84 from the intersection of Hwy. 565 in Wildsville in Concordia Parish to the intersection of Hwy. 124 South in Jonesville in Catahoula..

The deck on the new bridge is 40 feet higher than the finished grade of the old bridge, and stands 118 feet above sea level.
