Police Jury granted audit extension The Louisiana Legislative Auditor has granted the Concordia Parish Police Jury an additional extension on filing its 2007 annual audit report.
Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said the Jury's previous auditor stepped down and another auditor has been named, delaying the filing process.
"We've had our records ready but are just waiting for the CPA to file the report," said Ferrington.
Legislative Auditor Steve J. Theriot granted the second extension in August but noted that "no funds appropriated in the general appropriations act, the capital outlay act, or other appropriation act, shall be released or provided to any recipient...for as long as the recipient fails...to comply with the provisions."
Ferrington said he understands that some grant funds may be held up for governmental entities under the Jury's administrative arm.
"We're not trying to hold anybody up, including ourselves, and will hopefully have this taken care of real soon," said Ferrington. |
